The year was 1832 when 57 Irish Catholic immigrants building the Philadelphia and Columbia Railroad mysteriously died. Their premature deaths were blamed on a cholera pandemic but recent forensic evidence suggests foul play. The remains of 5 men and 1 woman were finally laid to rest in a church burial at Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania in 2012. The remains of John Ruddy from Inishowen, County Donegal were repatriated in Ireland in 2013 and Catherine Burns was reburied in her native Tyrone in 2015.
