A design dedicated to Lakota Sioux woman Zintkála Nuni, known as the Lost Bird of Wounded Knee. Four days after the massacre in 1890, a rescue party found 4 months old Zintkála alive amongst the dead, protected by her mother's frozen body. Adopted by a US Army General and later abandoned she lived a life rife with poverty, dying of Spanish influenza and syphilis in Calfornia in 1920. She was buried in a pauper's grave. In 1991 she was finally laid to rest with her Lakota family at Wounded Knee.
