Made famous in the lyrics of a folk song by Scottish singer-songwriter Eric Bogle - Willie McBride was 19 when he died in 1916 in the fields of Flanders during WW1. Historian Trevor Geary from Armagh in the North of Ireland has traced the most likely identity to a Willie McBride from Lisela in County Armagh, whose grave can be found at the Authuile Military Cemetery in France. However, Eric Bogle has commented that the name was fictional.
